Memory Recipe
(10 Points Participation PLUS up to 50 points extra credit)
- Culture is important.
- A big part of culture is sharing a meal.
- A big part of the transmission of culture and socialization is learning our cultural recipes from our elders.
- You probably have some fond memories growing up about learning how to make these dishes.
- What kind of culture do we want to maintain for ourselves and cultivate for the future in an age of fast food, microwave dinners, food delivery, etc.?
- What have we lost by passively going along with the times?
- Is it important to reclaim these traditions?
YOU will bring and share a cultural dish from your culture that specifically evokes a specific memory from your childhood.
To receive full-credit (10 points PLUS Extra Credit) you will:
- Bring in a dish
- Present the dish (and any special ingredients we may want to know about like peanuts, pig brains, etc.)
- Share a memory.
- Time is a 1-minute presentation. Keep it simple! We want to eat!
I will bring the Paper Plates, Utensils, and Trash Bags.
